Triple lobar pneumonia and septic shock aren’t a joke. (Sepsis and Pneumonia) On a cold winter day in December of 2012, I found my life quickly dwindling before my eyes. After a laser lithotripsy to remove kidney stones, my ureter collapsed. After 2 hospital admissions I was given a nephrostomy bag to drain my kidney. It was 6 days later, saw something was not right with the bag. Went to the ER and while waiting I started have body rigors. Shaking uncontrollably. Blood pressure was very low and very high temp. In 2016, what began as a case of the flu and strep throat quickly turned life-threatening when the strep bacteria entered my bloodstream, triggering sepsis. December 16,2024 is a day we will never forget. After several days of not eating, left side abdominal pain and being bed ridden, we knew something was terribly wrong. My husband visited his PCP office and was told he had constipation. As the days went on, he became worse. I was at work, calling home to check on him.
